Dr. Mona Shafey is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Hematology and Hematological Malignancies and the Program Director of the Adult Hematology Residency Training Program at the University of Calgary. She completed medical school and residency training at the University of Ottawa, and completed fellowship training in stem cell transplantation at the University of Calgary. Her clinical and research interests focus on malignant hematology, particularly lymphoma and CLL, and the use of stem cell transplantation for those diseases. She has also completed a Medical Education Certificate program through the University of Dundee and is the Program Director for the Adult Hematology Residency Training Program at he University of Calgary and is thus quite involved in the education of future physicians.
